The Rules

Overview: "Bent Tag" is a variation of the popular "assassins" game, created by Tau Beta Pi CA-A Chapter.

Object of the game: To stay alive while tagging as many people as you can! Last individual standing will be awarded with a surprise! The committee with the most "tags" or "kills" will also be awarded.

Game Duration: Bent Tag will last from the moment the player arrives at the retreat cabin until they start their journey from retreat back to Berkeley or home.

Participants: All current officers and PiE coords in retreat attendance will participate in Bent Tag. Committees are encouraged to work together for the "most tags" prize. Fogie participation is optional, and they may form their own teams of 4-5.

Assassin Assignments: Each player is assigned a target prior to the start of the game by "Bentley", who oversees the game and does not participate.

The Bent: Players are safe from being tagged if they have an unconcealed bent visibly affixed to their body or garments. This means that others must be able to clearly see your bent from an arm's length away, without having to manipulate any clothing.

How to "tag" others: A player is "tagged", or eliminated from the game, if their designated assassin's "bent" comes into contact with the player, while the player is not safe. As soon as a player is tagged, his/her assassin then inherits the player's target.

  • Reporting Tags: All tags must be reported to "Bentley" via text or email as soon as a player involved or a witness is able to do so. The report must resemble this form: [Target's name] has been tagged by [assassin's name] on [date, time, and place]. [include optional anecdotes details]. As soon as "Bentley" receives this message, he/she will publish it to this blog, thus providing real time coverage of Bent Tag.
Safe Times: Players are safe without their bent when:
  • They are driving.
  • They are sleeping.
  • They are attending to private business in the restroom.
  • They are traveling downhill as a result of kinetic friction and gravity.
  • They are at retreat meeting or another activity dubbed "safe" by Bentley.
Remember to play safe and have fun! Please use common sense and maturity. Do not play Bent Tag in a way that may injure others, e.g. high speed chases inside the retreat cabin. If there are any issues that arise from this year's Bent Tag, it will jeopardize future games.
